Why Brides LOVE These...

Every bride I have ever had come through my shop has poured her heart and soul into the planning of her biggest day.  I know that.  I understand the preparation, the head aches, the decisions, and the countless hours that go into preparing for the event.  Everything has to be PERFECT.

After all the planning - picking a dress, tasting cakes, designing save the dates, hand personalizing the invitations, creating seating charts, choosing a venue, finding the right DJ, the right food services, and most importantly - the photographer - the average wedding and reception only lasts 6-8 hours.  Of course there are the preparations the day of the wedding, and the clean up for some, which means the average wedding day itself will only last 8-12 hours.

Once the wedding day is over, and the "Thank You" cards are mailed out, all thats left from the wedding day are memories.  Of course there are trinkets from the tables, the card box, a few keepsakes, oh... and the dress!  Everyone wants to remember their epic, amazing, wonderful wedding day, but with only trinkets left over time tends to fade memories.  OF COURSE everyone remembers getting married.  I'm talking about those detailed moments that begin to fade - like the kids dancing their hearts out at the reception, the hug you got from grandpa, the reaction you had when your first taste of wedding cake ended up on your face instead of in your mouth!  And really - in 10 years can anyone recite the guest list?

I know how much heart and soul goes into planning a wedding.  I know that memories are priceless.  If I could have one more picture of me with my dad as a kid I would practically trade a kidney for it.

For all of these reasons I pour my heart and soul into each and every wedding album I create.  I find the perfect materials, the right design, and I plan for the pages before I even create the images at your wedding.

Creating an album is more than just putting wedding pictures into a book.  This is about telling a story.  This is about highlighting things at the wedding which may not have even been noticed -  the emotion on the groom's face when he saw his bride begin walking towards him, the father of the bride crying when he gave her away at the alter, the bride's 5 year old nephew holding hands with the flower girl at the reception...  The album is where memories are highlighted forever.

This means there can be zero short cuts in constructing the album.  All the materials must be of the highest quality to withstand the test of time - acid free, luster laminated pages protect from UV rays, thick ridged pages are not only sharp looking, but protect images from ever wrinkling, durable fabrics need to be selected to wrap around the album, the binding must be solid, and the cover must also be durable.  The album pictured in this post has an aluminum print as a cover for aesthetic beauty and long durability.

I personally design each album from start to finish, and oversee the quality control of the finished piece to be sure everything is up to my own standards.

I know how important each bride's special day is, and that is why I subject myself to such a high standard of quality in design and production.  This is why bride's absolutely LOVE my albums.

Liz Valentine's Headshot Session

As always, we had a blast with Liz!  Her fun, happy, energetic personality is SO contagious! Liz is the owner/operator of Studio V Media & Photography in Port Allegany, and we often work together, weather we are taking pictures for each other's families, talking "shop", or just hanging out for some fun. For this shoot, Liz has just become the proud new owner of a Cannon 70-200mm f/2.8 lens.  If you don't know what that means - it is a REALLY BIG LENS that EVERY photographer wants, and once they have it... it becomes part of their family.  Its generally one of the most favorited pieces of glass ever created - so, yes, it is worth getting a photo shoot for yourself to celebrate the occasion!

Competition? What Competition?

Photo Courtesy of Studio V. Photography Often, we are asked how we make our photography business thrive when there are so many competitors out there, especially in a rural and isolated location like ours.  Sure, there are mom-togs, those who do it for a hobby, those who undercut our prices, those that far out price us, those that offer downloads, free prints, etc., etc.  After all, in a boutique business like ours, people are going to either love our work or hate it.  They're either going to come to us or go somewhere else.  That's okay.  We're here to help those people that love our style, our personalities, and our art.  Sometimes what we offer doesn't fit the customer's choice.  That is okay. Hopefully we can help them out in some other way.  Perhaps we can give them guidance on what to wear , a checklist for wedding preparations , or even recommendations for a colleague that might suit them better. So You Want To Be A Photographer?

Are you interested in becoming a photographer?  Do you want to turn your passion for creating images into a source of income to support yourself and your family? Tim Walck Photography will soon be offering online courses in photography training, and portrait business training.  Each course will span 4-8 weeks.  Every student who participates in all classes will gain the tools necessary to succeed in the wedding and portrait photography business. ---- I started my photography business with only $2,000, which I had saved from working as a tele-marker, social services provider, and substitute teacher, all while being a full time graduate student at Mansfield University.  That was enough to buy a camera, lens, and flash.  I poured my heart and soul into photography, read everything I could get my hands on, and began to build my business.  After 3 short years of juggling multiple jobs, and being a photographer on the side, I made the leap into phot...
